The first time I saw the Suzuki Gixxer 155cc, I immediately admired the design.
It looks sleek and mean, the tank specially.
I plan to purchase a new bike for 2017 and the Gixxer is one of the bikes that fancy me.
I also told my friend Rocky to check this bike out. He is scouting for his next bike because his last one burned down during our Zambales road trip last March 2016.
He loved the bike specially when we viewed a Youtube video from a guy in India testing his new Gixxer on the highway topping a speed of 138 kph. stock. Wow!
I want to try and test the Suzuki brand this time. All my previous bikes were Hondas and they were are all great.
I noticed the power, speed and performance of A Suzuki at the hands of a fellow rider who rides a Suzuki Smash 115. It’s sooo fast at stock making me believe that there is genius in its engine design.
My appreciation with the Gixxer made me attend the Gixxer Day even though I still don’t own one.
I came with my Honda and parked it far away from the venue. Haha..
I saw the members of the Gixxer 150 RWC Club and from what I’ve heard, around more than 100 attended.
There was a clinic held, bike demonstrations, maintenance tips and proper riding techniques.
There were also intermission numbers from singers which made the event more fun.
Suzuki Gixxer vs. Honda Streetfire
As Rocky and I are still in the planning stages of purchasing our next bike, aside from the Gixxer, friends and fellow riders are also suggesting the new Honda 150cc Streetfire.
- Firstly, both are looking good with the rear monoshock.
- The design and over-all theme are both looking great.
- Streetfire’s got the FI or computerized Fuel Injection System while Gixxer got the tried and tested, old-school carb system.
- Streetfire’s got the front and rear disc break system while Gixxer got only the front disc brake system.
- The Streetfire got the radiator engine cooling system while the Gixxer is air-cooled.
Since Honda is looking more advanced, hence the big price difference.
Php 120k-128k for the Streetfire and Php 90k-94k for the Gixxer. There goes the balance between the two.
Personally, I never had an FI bike or a bike with dual disk brakes and monoshock system. Even my Honda CM400T never had those modern stuff but still it runs fine and perfect for a road trip.
Maybe this FI system is better, maybe it’s not or even more expensive to maintain.
As I watch the Dakar rallies, the machines that survive are the ones without FIs.
Well I hope I can test a Streetfire and a Gixxer one day.
Cheers thanks for reading.
